Welcome to
the Department of Computer Science at Southeast Missouri State University.
Our department offers the flexibility to tailor a
degree to fit specific niches in today's marketplace. By customizing a
degree, the student can combine computer science interests with other
aspirations and interests, thus positioning the student to take advantage
of expanded career opportunities that others in the field may miss.
The two majors offered in the Department of Computer Science share common
goals and objectives for student outcomes. Graduates of our programs will:
- demonstrate understanding of computer
science fundamentals
- demonstrate programming proficiency in a
modern computer language
- demonstrate fundamental software
engineering skills on a non-trivial project to the satisfaction of a
client
- be prepared for one of the following:
- to enter the workforce as an entry level applied computer
scientist
- to be accepted into a computer science graduate program
- be prepared for lifelong learning in
their computer science careers
Additional goals common to all graduates of the university will ensure
that our program graduates will also:
- demonstrate the ability to
communicate effectively
- demonstrate critical thinking skills.
