Graduate Assistantships

A limited number of assistantships to support Graduate Education are available through the Graduate School. Stipends for these assistantships are $6,100 per award. Assistantship requests are made at the Departmental level and students should make inquiries regarding the availability of GA positions directly to a particular Department. Graduate Fellowship / Scholarships

The Graduate School supports one (1) Graduate Fellowship/Scholarship annually in the amount of $5,000. Scholarships to support the research of non-GA positions are also available.

Minority Assistance

Approximately 10 Graduate Assistantships are available specifically to minority students enrolled in graduate programs. Stipends for these assistantships are $6,100 per award. Assistantship requests are made at the Departmental level and students should make inquiries regarding the availability of GA positions directly to a particular Department. The Department Chair should make a request directly to the Dean of the Graduate School for minority GA assistance.

Graduate Student Professional Development Assistance

Approximately $2,600-$3,000 is available annually to support graduate student development (e.g., travel and research related to their program of study). Awards typically approximate $150 per award. Whenever possible, Department and/or College funds should be accessed prior to request for Graduate Student Development funds. Matching funds for Departments and/or Colleges is desirable.

Graduate Student Research Assistance

Purpose of this fund is any graduate student engaged in research for a thesis, creative project, term paper, etc. by financially offsetting extraordinary expenses.

Graduate Faculty Mini-Grants

Approximately $3,000 is available annually to support graduate faculty research and related activities. Awards typically range between $100-$350. Whenever possible, Department and/or College funds should be accessed prior to request for Graduate Faculty Mini Grant Funds. Matching funds for Departments and/or Colleges is desirable. Applications for these funds should be made directly to the Dean of the Graduate School using the the:

Grant Development Match

Given the importance of external funding to support faculty research, the Graduate School provides matches to grant applications when Deans are unable to provide this support. Once a College provides the first $10,000 match, the Graduate School can provide any additional matching funds. Requests for matching funds should be made through the faculty member's Dean.
