Welcome! We are delighted to have you visiting with us. To
help you enjoy your stay, we are providing this guide to some
area conveniences. This information is not an exhaustive list,
but it should provide some basic information. For more
information, please consult the telephone directory or call the
Visitors Bureau or the Chamber of Commerce.

NOTE: To reserve cab service, one must call approximately 40
minutes in advance of the desired time of departure. It is not
possible to hail a cab on the street.

Buses operate from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fare is $1.50 Main
office terminal is 937 Broadway.
Transportation between the St. Louis Airport and Cape Girardeau
• Bootheel Area Rapid Transport (“BART”): This transportation
service is located at 2900 Kage Road, (573) 335-0844,

Banking
• Commerce Bank, UC Bookstore Branch office: (573) 986-7025
NOTE: Commerce Bank operates the on-campus bank branch office
and the Automatic Teller Machines (ATM’s) on and around campus.
To open an account, one may visit either the campus branch or
the Broadview Office.
• There are also many other banks in town. You will find the
listings in the yellow pages of the telephone directory under
“Banks”.
NOTE: In the United States, bank drafts are usually called
checks, and the corresponding account is called a “checking
account” (rather than a “current account”). Other common bank
services include interest-bearing savings’ accounts (from which
repeated withdrawals are discouraged), certificates of deposit
(for investment purposes to receive higher interest yield),
money orders and cashier’s checks, traveler’s checks, investment
services, and notaries public. Money orders are also available
at the post office.

• West Park Mall (“Westfield Shoppingtown Mall”) is located west
of the University. It has boutiques and specialty stores,
restaurants, and major department stores (Macy’s and J.C.
Penney).
