Upon a motion by McGowan; seconded by McDougall, minutes were unanimously approved.
B. Action Items
1. Convert B.S. in Chemistry concentrations to options. McGowan made a motion to accept the changes to rename “concentrations” to “options” for the B.S. in Chemistry. The only change in this degree is the addition of a 5th option in Forensic Chemistry. The motion was seconded by McDougall. Hinkle pointed out that the program does not meet the 60% Rule. Cron asked about library resources for Forensics. The Department will review the requirements and make sure it is sufficient. The motion passed with one abstention.
2. Minor in Fitness and Exercise Science. Pujol presented the changes made in the minor including the name change to Exercise Science. After discussion it was decided that CH 185 will be added in the Additional Requirements courses listed. Upon a motion by Prater; seconded by Curtis, the motion was unanimously approved.
3. M.A. in Elementary Education. Janzow moved approval of the changes in the
Admission Requirements for Masters in Elementary Education; Shepard
seconded. There was discussion on
admission requirements for those currently holding a teaching certificate. Shepard agreed to clarify the wording. The Table agreed that if a teacher is

4. M.A. in History. Janzow moved to accept the changes made to the graduate program in History; Curtis seconded. Discussion followed regarding the rigorous nature of the changes to the program. Curtis noted that the changes will produce stronger students and strengthen the major. The motion passed unanimously. Stephens asked to see the impact of this change on enrollments one year from now (May 2006).
5. Changes to Biology minors. McGowan moved approval of the changes to the minors in Biology; Shaw seconded. McGowan explained that the changes were internal to the department and that the re-evaluation of courses is in line with core changes and that there are no hidden requirements. The motion passed unanimously.
6. Change the B.S. in Education, Business Education major to B.S. in Education, Business and Marketing Education major. McDougall moved approval of the name change in the major; McGowan seconded. McDougall explained that there are no public universities offering certification at this time; they are either certified in Business or Business Marketing. It was noted that a student would not be able to do the Marketing without the Business component. After discussion, it was agreed that in the University Studies Program course listing “Living System and Physical System” would be listed without course stipulations. With this change, the motion passed unanimously.
7. Offer the B.S. in Human Environmental
Studies: Child Development option off-campus. Prater asked Paula King to present the
program proposal. King distributed
copies of a memorandum that presented the rationale for approval to offer the
B.S. in Human Environmental Studies: Child Development option off-campus. It was noted that because this is the last
