POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Tenured position as Chairperson in
the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology. Rank of
Associate Professor/Professor.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Department Chair supervises and
evaluates faculty and staff, manages the department budget, implements the
department’s strategic plan, oversees marketing and student recruitment,
coordinates curriculum planning and development, ensures curriculum integrity,
makes promotion and tenure recommendations, and facilitates faculty research
productivity (including extramural grants and scholarly publications). The
Chair also serves as an advocate for the department with College/University
administration, and is a member of the
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must have a PhD in criminal justice or criminology or a
related discipline. Teaching experience in the classroom is required as well as
commitment to instructional video and web based courses. Candidates are
required to have strong communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated
record of effective teaching and high quality scholarly work; experience in
education administration; a proven record of securing external funding,
demonstrated commitment to working with multicultural populations; commitment
to public and university service; and awareness of issues affecting women and
minorities. In addition, a demonstrated
record of collegial leadership, experience in curriculum development and
student related functions and experience in working with external
constituencies is required.
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with
professional experience and qualifications.

DEPARTMENT:
The department includes nine full-time faculty members who serve
approximately 350 undergraduate majors and 35 graduate students. In addition to
a B.S. in Criminal Justice, the department also offers an M.S. in Criminal
Justice.
