POSITION:  The Department of Industrial & Engineering Technology invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) or Instructor (Regular Non-Tenure-Track) of Photography & Graphics.  Starting date is August 1, 2008.

 

DEPARTMENT:  The Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology has an annual equipment and operations budget of over $250,000 and is housed in a new 60,000 sq. ft. building.  Each staff member is annually provided a minimum $1,200 for professional development.  The department has outstanding internal and external support and is experiencing significant enrollment growth.  The department offers a B.S. Industrial Technology degree accredited by National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT), and a B.S. Engineering Technology degree accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of Accreditation Board of Engineering & Technology (TAC/ABET).  The department has a state designation as a center for Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Technology. 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Teach undergraduate introductory and advanced courses in traditional/digital photography with particular emphasis on commercial photography and Computer Graphic Design.  This position requires proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Illustrator software on both the PC and Macintosh platforms.  The successful candidate will provide leadership and contribute to the ongoing development of the photography curriculum and its laboratories.  Additional responsibilities include: advising students; performing departmental, school and university service. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum qualification is a master’s degree with a graduate or undergraduate degree in a related field or significant experience in commercial photography.  Earned doctorate degree or MFA is required for Assistant Professor tenure-track appointment and candidates with a Master’s degree will be considered for an Instructor (Regular Non-Tenure-Track) position.  The candidate will have an active record of professional achievement and experience in professional studio, lighting skills, expertise in medium and large format photography, and ability to teach photography combining the fine arts and commercial perspective.  Candidate must have strong verbal communication skills, the ability to teach and develop curriculum for applicable courses, and show evidence of the ability to execute duties described in the position description.  Demonstrate commitment to teaching and public/university service.  Candidate must have a history of working with a multi culture population and have awareness on issues effecting women and minorities.
