of Agriculture invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position
in Horticulture. Starting date is

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Teach
undergraduate courses in horticulture and allied fields. Candidates must have
strong theoretical and practical experience in horticulture. The successful
candidate will participate in curriculum and laboratory development in the department
and will provide new expertise to lead the program in new directions. Additional
responsibilities include; advising students, serving on committees, professional
development and service to area industries.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in Horticulture. Candidates with
significant progress toward completion of their Ph.D. degree will be considered
for an instructor position. These
candidates may resume the tenure-track appointment upon completion of their
Ph.D. degree. Candidates must have strong English communication skills, have
appropriate academic background to teach, have appropriate academic background develop
curriculum and new programs, and show evidence of the ability to execute other
duties as described in the position description. The candidate must also
demonstrate commitment to the teacher/scholar model, the ability to write
grants and scholarly publications, potential for professional advancement in
the discipline, and commitment to public/university service. Candidates must
have a demonstrated commitment to work with multicultural populations and have
awareness on issues affecting women and minorities.
CLOSING DATE: Screening will begin February, 2008 and continue until
a qualified candidate is selected.
