Information Literacy Librarian

 

Primary Responsibilities:  Assist with the development, implementation, promotion and assessment of an expanding information literacy program.  Using current instructional technology, collaborate with other librarians and departmental faculty to design and create instructional methods and materials, teach information literacy skills and concepts, and integrate information literacy into the University curriculum.  Work with the Coordinator of Information Literacy and other librarians in the Information Services Department.  This position is a 12 month regular non-tenure-track faculty appointment at the Instructor Rank.  Tuition remission is part of the benefits package.

 

Required Qualifications:  ALA-accredited MLS by starting date.  Demonstrated interest in teaching and a strong commitment to student learning.  Familiarity with information literacy standards.  Ability and interest in developing a variety of instructional materials, including Web pages and other online resources.  Knowledge of a wide range of print and electronic information sources.  Strong service orientation, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Ability to work closely with departmental faculty throughout the University.  Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well as a member of a group as well as individually.  Demonstrated commitment to university’s academic mission and culturally diverse learning environment.

 

Kent Library: The library embraces the information commons concept in theory and practice.  The library combines traditional services and resources with over 100 state-of-art computer stations, group meeting rooms, comfortable seating, wireless access, and coffee bar.  Staff include 12 library faculty, 8 professional staff, and 17 clerical positions.  Kent Library is a member of MOBIUS, a consortium of more than 60 academic libraries in Missouri using a common library platform from Innovative Interfaces.
