POSITION: Assistant
Professor in Voice, Baritone. A tenure-track position in the
Department of Music. Review of
applications will begin March 17, 2008.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach
studio voice with additional responsibilities in opera workshop, music theatre,
vocal pedagogy or other voice related courses.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent performance skills
in opera, art song, and music theatre; and keyboard and foreign language skills
appropriate to effective teaching in the applied studio. A record of creative activity or
scholarship required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate
preferred, masters plus significant performance experience required. Strong professional performing experience
including opera, art song, and music theatre is expected. Ability to perform on faculty recitals,
operas and musicals required. Evidence
of successful teaching and a record of creative activity required. Ability or
potential to attract outstanding students of singing required. A commitment to working with multicultural
populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities required.

THE SCHOOL: The Earl
and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast is
comprised of the departments of Art, Music and Theatre & Dance and
Southeast Regional Museum. Opened in the fall of 2007, the school is
located at the new River Campus, a handsome facility of historically restored
and new buildings overlooking the Mississippi River. The river campus includes a 950 seat
theatre/concert hall, flex theatre, recital hall, dance studio, art studios,
art gallery, museum, as well as classrooms, practice rooms and faculty offices.
THE DEPARTMENT: The department of Music includes 19 full time and 4 adjunct faculty members which serve approximately 130 undergraduate and graduate majors. The department offers the Bachelor of Music in Performance degree (B.M.) with options in voice, winds, strings, keyboard or composition; the Bachelor of Music Education degree in either the vocal or instrumental track; or the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music. The musical arts flourish at Southeast. The department supports 12 ensembles including orchestra, band, and choral groups; several small student ensembles and faculty chamber groups bear witness to the fertile creative climate. Student soloists compete and perform regularly across the region, and many faculty maintain active performing schedules.
