A.A. DEGREE TO B.A. DEGREE
ANTHROPOLOGY (ARCHAEOLOGY)*
Purpose: This curriculum is designed for persons who plan to complete an Associate of Arts Degree at Jefferson College and then transfer to Southeast Missouri State University to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology. The Associate of Arts Degree fulfills the lower division University Studies requirement. Southeast’s Anthropology program is designed to provide a common set of learning experiences that characterize the breadth and diversity of the discipline. The program establishes a solid foundation for graduate study and a variety of careers in industry, museums, public service and international affairs. Students selecting the Archaeology track are prepared for entry level positions in the field.
*Archaeology is one of the four fields of anthropology. Students wishing to enter the field of archaeology take a major in anthropology, with a course sequence in archaeology.
The Bachelor of Arts degree requires 12 hours in one or more foreign languages and a minor of at least 15 hours. Students should work with their advisor to determine their specific needs.
All anthropology/archaeology courses taken prior to enrolling at Southeast will be accepted as hours toward the major.
Electives should be selected so that they meet the degree requirements for a minimum of 30 hours of senior college (300-500 level) courses.
