# An elementary teaching certification (1-6) can be easily obtained with the degree. The selection of those courses marked with an # (MA318, UI308, and an economics course) results in the completion of the second certificate. While some UI 3xx course must be selected during the fall semester of the third year, MA 318, UI 308, and the economics course are not needed for the early childhood degree. They give the student a second certificate in elementary education--and are most strongly recommended.
