A.A. DEGREE TO B.S.E. DEGREE
ELEMENTARY EDUCATION - PROJECT ACCESS

Purpose: The Project Access curriculum is designed for persons who plan to complete an Associate of Arts Degree at Jefferson College and then transfer to Southeast Missouri State University's Project Access program on the Jefferson College campus.  Project Access brings all of the junior year to Jefferson College, and requires 14 hours of resident work on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University (usually one semester of the senior year).  The Associate of Arts Degree fulfills the lower division University Studies requirement.  Students who complete this degree will be certificated to teach grades 1-6 in Missouri's public schools.

An area of concentration consists of 21 hours of coursework in a selected area. Students may select from art, early childhood, exceptional child,  foreign languages, language and literature, mathematics, music, physical education, science, and social studies.  Students selecting an area of concentration in exceptional child or early childhood will need an additional semester (other than summer) to incorporate appropriate block work and prerequisites  necessary for these blocks.
