A.A. DEGREE TO B.A. DEGREE
CHEMISTRY

Purpose: This curriculum is designed for persons who plan to complete an Associate of Science Degree at Shawnee Community College and then transfer to Southeast Missouri State University to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry Degree. The Associate of Science Degree fulfills the lower division University Studies requirement.  This degree program prepares students for both technical and nontechnical positions in chemically related industry or business.  Chemists employed by government agencies or private industry are typically involved in product development, industrial quality control, analysis and testing, environmental compliance, research, technical sales/marketing/services, or technical consulting.  Other career options related to chemistry include patent law, information retrieval, medical technology, pollution control and monitoring, and industrial hygiene.

Electives must be selected so that they meet the degree requirements for both a minor and a minimum of 30 hours of senior college (300-500 level) courses.
