A.A. TO B.A. DEGREE
MASS COMMUNICATION - JOURNALISM OPTION



Purpose: This curriculum is designed for students who plan to complete an Associate of Arts degree at Southwestern Illinois College and then transfer to Southeast Missouri State University to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree. The Associate of Arts degree fulfills the lower division University Studies requirement.  The program establishes a solid foundation for a variety of careers, including computer assisted reporting, copy editing, investigative reporting, sports writing, and publication layout and design.

Courses in bold/italics print are requirements of the Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication/Journalism. To complete this articulated program, students must have a grade of "C" or better in these courses and to transfer directly into the College of Liberal Arts, students must have completed their Associate of Arts degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.

Students who choose the Journalism Option minor in one of the following:

Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Finance,Economics, Foreign Language, International Studies, Political Science, Religion, Theatre Arts.
