Purpose: This curriculum is designed for persons who plan to complete an Associate of Arts Degree at Southwestern Illinois College and then transfer to Southeast Missouri State University to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communication. The Associate of Arts Degree fulfills the lower division University Studies requirement. Career possibilities for speech communication majors include: corporate lawyer, legal researcher, personnel counselor, university information specialist, teacher of speech communication, developmental officer, forensics coach, college placement officer, speechwriter, political campaign director, lobbyist, legislative assistant, public relations director, marketing specialist, sales manager, director of tourism and public opinion researcher.
